"Hi, my name is David Merry and I have the good fortune of being the manager of Woodmarket House.
Firstly I would like to take this opportunity to thank our walking buddies for this very kind gesture. I would also like to thank you all for your kind sponsorship and take this opportunity to explain exactly how the hard earned money will be spent.
Woodmarket House has its own 'comfort fund', this account is separate to all the other finances at Woodmarket. This account is used for exactly what it says, the comfort of our residents and the aim is to enhance the service already provided. Last year we organised trips to Skegness, Chatsworth House, Leicester to see the lights, a canal trip, several trips to Woodlands Garden Centre and various meals out. We provided Christmas presents for all our residents and those luxuries we all like at Christmas.
When we receive donations such as this, we look to ensure the money is spent in a planned manner involving our residents every step of the way. We look to ensure we are providing exactly what our residents wish for, through residents meetings. We are required by law to produce a statement of accounts, which is displayed in our foyer to enable those who have donated to see exactly how their kind donations enhance the lives of our residents who are, of course, the elders of Lutterworth and the local area."
