The forecast for the next few days in Cumbria is not so very nice - rain, rain and perhaps the odd few clouds - not a bit like this time last year when the sun shone solidly for a week whilst the lads walked Hadrian's Wall.
Still, 6.45am saw Richard Holyoak struggling up our drive with the tiniest rucksack in his hand and the hugest hold-hall on his back with 'stuff' strapped all over it - WOW!! He was closely followed by Tim who had the same rucksack as Russ plus a similar sized extra bag. It seems Amanda has seen the error of her ways and has thrown Richard out - kitchen sink and all. ;-D
Richard after gazing fondly at Russ and Tim's BIG rucksacks decided he might just run home and get his - bearing in mind it's now 7am and the taxi is due any second. What a sight to see Richard ran home and back (he lives two doors away) and returned puffing and blowing like something on heat!!
He then proceeded to open the millions of pockets and put his bits and bobs - things like empty plastic snap top boxes 'just in case I make a sandwich one day on the walk'. OMG you've got to laugh - especially as both Russ and Tim comment 'welcome to our world, it's like this every day on the walk - this will take him an hour'. Poor Richard - it didn't cos two minutes later the taxi arrived so Tim said give me your bag whilst I check you've got everything. He hadn't he'd left his gloves attached to the wee bag ;-D
Into the taxi and just time for a few pics from the pap aka Shirley Duncan and they're off to pick up the rest of the boys Paul, Andrew, Simon and Stuart and Cumbria here they come.
I've just had news they're half an hour away from the start of the walk and have just stopped for their 'Fat Boy Breakfast'. It's still part sun/part cloud here but a lot cloudy looking like rain in Cumbria - still I know that won't put them off.
Signing off for now the blog hijacker - Dawn Crooks xx
Tim explaining to the taxi driver about his special friend still doing his packing!! |
