What a difference a day makes...

...and it certainly proved that today as we only had the odd short, sharp, shower and the rest was glorious sunshine and a stiff breeze.
The beginning of the walk took us along a bit more of Coniston water and then onto Coniston village which was beautifully set beneath the stunning landscape that lay behind it. We continued through Coniston where we bumped into Simon and Stu having some breakfast and tea.  Just after Coniston we started to climb and we got hailed on for about 5 mins...... typically it stopped just after we got our ponchos on! The landscape was just breathtaking after a short walk through some woodland where it opened up in front of you with staggering beauty which left you speechless.
I'm sure Russ will explain in his blog but all I can say is karma is a  wonderful thing at times....... :-)
Anyway,  our walk continued up where we meet Simon and Stu who joined up with us for a while as we walked past a small lake called tarn hows.  As we continued to climb I had a small reflection as 20 years ago my grandma and grandad did the same walk and it will be nice when we get back to go through the photos :-)
A small while later we stopped for a brew and sat to admire the majestic sight of Helvellyn with a lightly covered snow cap. The latter part of the walk was fairly flat and just as stunning but we arrived at the campsite just as it started to rain,  so putting the tent up was fun. Sorry to stop so short but food is a calling so please enjoy the photos and keep posted for more. ..

  1. Fab pictures Andrew. It looks like you're having a lovely time. No breakfast in a tin for Simon and Stu then? Mmmmm.

Enjoy your rest, looking forward to the next update.
